Day 24 – October 16, 2019

We went to RSUD Banyumas again for a hospital visit with Ms. Deaisy and Ms. Atika and we went to the Perinatologi Department or the Neonatology Department to observe a normal baby. After that, we made a NCP about the baby that is born Large for Gestational Age that we’ve observed. After that, we went to the Thalassemia Department and observed the patients with Thalassemia Disorder and had a little discussion about Thalassemia in Indonesia and Philippines.

After the discussion about Thalassemia, we went to the conference room to say thank you to all the staffs that accommodated us throughout our stay and visit at the hospital.

At night, Mr. Wito and his wife, Ms. Deaisy, invited us to have dinner at their house.

Day 23 – October 15, 2019

We went to RSUD Banyumas again for a hospital visit with Ms. Happy, Ms. Reni, Ms. Devita, Mr. Wito, and the staffs there Ms. Ikka and Mr. Imron. We went to the Hospital director’s Office to ask permission for us to observe in the facilities. We observed how the baby is given a bath, the rooms where the mother and child is, the room for mothers who had an abortus baby, and the nurses’ station.

After that, we went to the conference room to share our observations and comparing it to the District Hospital in the Philippines. We criticize the procedure, things, and many more that they have and are doing here and compare it to the Philippines. After hospital visit, we went to the University to perform a demo of Bathing, Catheterization, and Unang Yakap.

Day 22 – October 14, 2019

We went to RSUD Banyumas for a hospital visit and Mr. Imron toured us around the whole hospital and in the different departments. We gave an emphasis on observing more on Pediatrics and Maternity. 

After the tour, we had a discussion about our schedule in the hospital all throughout the stay here in Indonesia. We will spend our last week here in the hospital.

Day 18 – October 10, 2019

We attended Dr. Umi’s class about the Denver II Test. The Denver II Test is to determine the mental ability of the child from 2weeks to 6years old. 

Ms. Deaisy discussed to us about MTBS, diarrhea, and low birth weight. After that, Ms. Atika discussed about hypothermia and how to massage the baby’s body with onion, garlic, and baby oil or olive oil to prevent hypothermia.

Day 16 – October 8, 2019

We made a Power Point Presentation about the Essential Intrapartum and Newborn Care in the Philippines. We presented it infront of Ms. Devita, Ms. Reni, Mr. Hendra, and Mr. Wito. We presented about the “Unang Yakap” and the different Filipino traditional beliefs of a pregnant woman.

After presenting, Ms. Devita and Ms. Reni taught us how to make herbal medicines that has many benefits to the mother and the baby. They also taught us how to massage the mother’s back which helps in the production of breast milk. The herbal medicines may be used as aromatheraphy, accupressure, and for drinking.

Day 15 – October 7, 2019

We attended Ms. Devita’s class and she discussed about Maternal and Child Nursing. In Indonesian Culture, giving treatment with the mother while pregnant and after delivery is very different with the Philippine Culture. But they also apply the “Unang Yakap” after the delivery of the baby.

After the lecture, we proceed with the skills. Ms. Reni and Ms. Devita taught us how to perform Pap Smear. The procedure of Pap Smear here in Indonesia is slightly different from the procedure in the Philippines.
